Aircraft Deliveries
KAZAN MI-17-1V "HIP"
AIROD delivered two newly acquired KAZAN MI-17-1V helicopters to The Malaysian's Fire and Rescue Department on September 11th, 1998. Malaysian's Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad witnessed the handing over of the Russian-made helicopters from Kazan-Tatarstan to Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Dr Ting Chew Peh by Airod Sdn Bhd President Tan Sri Ahmad Johan.
The helicopters, named Enggang and Pekaka by Dr Mahathir, would be fitted with fire-fighting equipment and would become dedicated fire-fighting vehicles within six months. Discussion is currently on-going between AIROD and the Goverment of Malaysia for the total maintenance support program for these two helicopters.
AIR NIUGINI FOKKER F28-1000
AIROD delivered AIR NIUGINI's Fokker F28-1000 registration P2-ANJ on July 5th, 1998 after undergoing 2C/D1 maintenance check for 56 days. The scope of works involve Service Bulletins (SB), Corrosion Control program (CCP) and Structural integrity program (SIP). P2-ANJ is the 12th Fokker F28s to be serviced by AIROD since the first input from AIR NIUGINI in 1989.
SIKORSKY S-70A BLACKHAWK
The second newly acquired Sikorsky S-70A 'BLACKHAWK' was delivered to the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) on February 28th, 1998, in a ceremony held at the RMAF 10th Squadron Air Base in Sungei Besi, Kuala Lumpur. The helicopter registered M46-02, which is fitted with external pylon tanks for extended range capability will join the first aircraft M46-01 for VVIP duties. AIROD has also been selected as the primary provider of the First and Second line maintenance support.
