In line with the national aspiration to achieve status of developed country, AIROD embarked on the manufacture of machined parts for aircraft. Given the blessings and encouragement of the Malaysia's honorable Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad, this project was initiated in mid 1997.

On 3rd November 1998, the first batch of locally manufactured machined parts for aircraft were delivered to Shinmaywa of Japan and rocket booster parts to Macnab of USA. These parts would be used in the Boeing 757/767 series and Titan 5 space rocket respectively.

ShinMaywa, a greatly diversified company in Japan manufactures aircraft such as the US-1A STOL amphibian aircraft and many other aircraft parts for commercial aircraft.
