AIROD - Facilities

AIROD's maintenance facility is strategically located at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah International Airport and occupies 77.4 acre site on the north side of the runway. It now employs over 1,000 employees. AIROD's multi million dollar facility is an internationally recognised aerospace maintenance and modification centre, with broad range of capabilities to provide total support of fixed and rotary wing aircraft, gas turbine engines, avionics and aerocomponents.

AIROD's operates six hangars, one of which is a two-bay wide body hangar able to accomodate major inspections and support services on aircraft up to the size of Boeing 747-400. One hangar is dedicated for aircraft paintstrip and painting operations in environmental controlled conditions. Current facilities include:

Aircraft Hangars - 309,920 sq. ft.

Engine & Aerocomponent Workshops - 106,000 sq. ft.

Avionics Workshop - 21,000 sq. ft.

Logistics and Warehouse - 49,000 sq. ft.

Ramp & Parking Space - 395,866 sq. ft.

The engine and aerocomponent repair/overhaul capabilities are housed in a fully equipped facility for the repair/overhaul of a variety of gas turbine engines, related accesories and over 3000 mechanical components. The capabilities include a comprehensive range of specialised services including electroplating, NDT, flame spray, welding and machining. Dedicated engine test facilities are also available for the performance testing of turbojet, turboprop and turboshaft engines.
